Plaza Del Mar Band Shell Ribbon Cutting

Last week, ARG conservator Sarah Devan attended the ribbon cutting for the freshly restored Plaza Del Mar Band Shell in Santa Barbara. Constructed in 1919 from a Mission Revival design by local architect Winsor Soule, the Band Shell is a stucco and wood-framed structure.

Designated a City Landmark, the Band Shell needed façade and structural repairs after many decades of concerts, dramatic performances, recitals, and celebrations. ARG was the prime architect on the restoration project providing both architectural and conservation services, which also included the design of a new accessible ramp. The restoration was funded by federal, state and local sources.
