Community Involvement

Architectural Resources Group is committed to our community.

It is important to us to support our staff in their efforts to volunteer their time outside of their professional lives. Our team is dedicated to making the world a better place, with individuals involved with a variety of organizations from local nonprofits to national charity organizations. Additionally, ARG is involved in annually sponsoring the following community non-profit groups as a firm:

LEAP, ARTS EDUCATION

Leap, Arts in Education is a a non-profit organization that provides quality arts education programs to children in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1983, Leap has held the Sandcastle Contest, a lively and creative competition between teams of architects, engineers, contractors, designers, and elementary school students. It is the largest sandcastle-building contest in Northern California. ARG has been a proud sponsor and participant in the Leap Sandcastle Contest for over 20 years, helping to engage the community and encourage imagination and creativity in the elementary-school participants. Every year we look forward to collaborating with the fifth-grade students at John Yehall Chin Elementary School in San Francisco. Rain or shine, Architectural Resources Group’s enthusiastic team is at Ocean Beach every year!

COMPASS FAMILY SERVICES

Since 2009, ARG has participated in the Compass Family Services Adopt-A-Family program. Each year we are matched with a family (typically a family of five to seven people) to sponsor for the holidays, though Compass Family Services serves the community all year round. When we are matched with a family, we learn their names, ages, stories, and hobbies. What a benefit this is because we know exactly who is receiving the gifts and this enables us to take care in selecting items we’re confident they will love and appreciate, giving the experience a more personal touch.

CANSTRUCTION

CANstruction is an annual design competition that aids in hunger relief through the construction of canned food sculptures that are donated to local food banks after a weeklong public display. Teams of architects, engineers, and general contractors design whimsical food-related sculptures, then raise funds to purchase the cans that will be used in the design and subsequently donated. Our Portland office teamed with HDR Engineers for the 2017 competition to benefit the Oregon Food Bank. It is a fun challenge that raises awareness and leads to creative collaborations to directly benefit an important organization that makes a significant positive impact for those in need.
